Rhodes Palace, the Palace of the Grand Master stands at the highest point of the Medieval Town. It was built by the Knights in the 14th century at the location of the Acropolis of the first Byzantine fortress. The siege of the Turks in 1489 and the earthquake of 1481 caused severe damage, which was repaired by the Master d' Aubusson.
